Get Involved
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (LDP) ::
At Encounter we are keen to see people move from a consumer culture of Christianity to being a people who serve, get involved and invest something back for the benefit of others and the glory of God. This is why we operate a Leadership Development Programme – in order to help develop the potential of young leaders and help identify the area where they are most suited to serving, and where they will be most effective.
The Leadership Development Programme is for those in year 11 and above and is designed to help you develop and learn about skills and priorities that are useful Christian leadership. It includes teaching, informal mentoring and practical hands-on experience of helping out at the Friday Night Project.

THE VENUE TEAM ::
If you want to be a part of making the Encounter Friday Night Project happen then the Venue Team is the place for you to start getting involved! As part of the team you will help in practically serving and making sure that all our venues are setup, ready to go and safe for people to use on a Friday night. Not only that, but you will be involved in other areas such as running the tuck shop, doing registration, taking the offering and helping in other practical ways such as helping with the StoreHouse collection, running the music in the foyer, making sure our venues are welcoming and enjoyable places to be, prayer wall setup and staffing bookstalls etc on any weeks that it is available.
And when the night is finished you will be involved in making sure that everything is reset to leave the building back to exactly how we found it for whatever is happening next!
As part of the venue team you will arrive at 8pm to sort out your role for the night and to begin setup for the night. You will finish up around 11.15pm after beginning clear up (though if you need to leave earlier so your parents can collect you etc that is also fine, just let a leader know!)
The venue team will be run on a rota basis (based on the number of people who volunteer) so that you are not on every week but rather the responsibilities are shared out and you can still just enjoy coming along on Fridays to relax, but also feel a part of the team!

THE HOST TEAM ::
As a part of the Host team you will be doing an invaluable job at the Encounter Friday Night Project. Your role is to actively look out for people who come to Encounter and make them all feel at home and really welcome. Your job is also to especially look out for people who are new or are on their own and to help them integrate and get to know people at Encounter! This can be as simple as handing out sweets as a team to people as they come in, right up to inviting new people to come and join in some of the games and activities, and showing them around to where things are going on so that they feel at home and welcome!
Members of the Host team should be enthusiastic about making people feel welcomed, loved and at home here amongst everyone at Encounter. Since the Friday Night Project is quite a big group of people it could be difficult or intimidating to come along to by yourself, so we’d love you to put yourself in their shoes and to go out of your way to make them feel a part of it – by welcoming them, integrating them into stuff that is going on and even inviting them to sit with your friends during the word and worship…
This will also be run on a rota’d basis so that you don’t feel you have to be fulfilling a role every week, though it obviously means that you don’t just ignore people you have helped to integrate on the weeks you aren’t on the team!
